A Few Simple Things We Can Do To Support And Nurture The

Movement

A few simple things we can do to support and nurture the polyamory movement:

  Become a member of Polyamour

- Join a polyamory support group. If you don’t have one nearby, start one. Love Without Limits by Deborah Anapol has a great chapter on this.

- We all know people who are polyamorous and don’t know it. Tell them. Remember that the people you touch go on to touch other people in turn.

- Come out poly. Without preaching, let the important people in your life (friends, family, coworkers) know about your lifestyle and beliefs and dreams. Let them know this is normal for you and for many other people.

- Buy and read the classic polyamory texts. Love Without Limits, Breaking the Barriers to Desire, The Polyamory Primer, Loving More, etc. Loan them to your friends. These books speak well for the movement.

- Participate. Write poly love songs and poetry and articles for Loving More magazine. Attend polyamory conferences, write to poly friends, email, network.

- Make connections. Contact local groups you think might be interested in polyamory. (Local singles group, Pagan group, bisexual support group, etc.)

- Confront bigotry wherever you find it. Bigotry (and not monogamy) is the antithesis of polyamory.

- Put up a web page to tell people who you are and what you really believe. Link to other sites.

- Let's please stay tolerant of monogamy. We will be far better served by being inclusive than by being elitist. Freedom of choice includes freedom to disagree.

These things will be good for the polyamory movement, for our personal networks and for our development as people.
